Age Limit
• Retired Technical Officer/Retired Range Officer: Should not be more than 65 years on the date of advertisement • Senior Research Fellow/Senior Project Fellow: Upper age limit of 32 years as on 01.06.2026 • Junior Project Fellow: Upper age limit of 28 years as on 01.06.2026 • Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST, Women, Physically Handicapped, and OBC candidates The notification does not specify a separate age limit for Project Assistant and Field Assistant posts.
Salary
Post: Fellowship Amount RTO/RRO: Rs. 35,000/- consolidated, or Basic Pay as per LPC minus current Basic Pension, whichever is less Senior Research Fellow (SRF): Rs. 42,000/- per month + HRA Senior Project Fellow (SPF): Rs. 28,000/- per month for two years Junior Project Fellow (JPF): Rs. 24,000/- consolidated Project Assistant (Sal project): Rs. 19,000/- per month (year 1-2); Rs. 20,000/- per month (year 3-5) Field Assistant (FA): Rs. 20,000/- consolidated Project Assistant (Singori-Bhatwari project): Rs. 23,000/- fixed Project Assistant (Medicinal Plants project): Rs. 22,000/- fixed
Selection Process
Selection will be made through a walk-in interview. There is no written exam mentioned in the notification. Candidates need to register between 9:00 AM and 10:15 AM on their respective interview date and submit their documents to the office of the Group Coordinator (Research), P.O. New Forest, FRI, Dehradun, for verification and interview.

Important Instructions
• The fellowship is governed by the rules of ICFRE and does not guarantee subsequent employment in any institute under the Council. • A candidate who has already completed 4 years as SRF/SPF/JRF/JPF will not be considered for the JRF/JPF/SRF/SPF posts again. • Ph.D. period and teaching experience will not be counted as research experience. • Candidates already employed must bring an NOC from their last/current institute. • The Director, Forest Research Institute, reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of positions, or not to recruit against any notified post, without prior notice. • The advertisement is published in both Hindi and English; in case of any discrepancy, the English version will be treated as the standard text. • No separate interview call letter will be issued, and no TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
